Ross Engineering’s Hipot Control Unit features Variable Voltage Control with safety return to zero. It provides adjustable current overload trip, a 4½ digit digital voltmeter for easy viewing and a AC digital milliammeter. Its simplified design is excellent for testing and accurately calibrating high voltage instrumentation or measuring AC insulation leakage current, and testing breakdown or withstand voltage for any type of device where AC Hipot testing is appropriate within its current limit.

Total 50kV system weight is 76 lbs for epoxy potted transformer portability. Total 60kV and 100kV system weight is approximately 170 lbs to 850 lbs. Shipping crate adds approximately 100 lbs. The larger Hipot Transformers are oil filled. Total shipping weight is approximately 300 lbs to 950 lbs.

The secondary of the transformer is provided with a control winding or voltage divider which permits monitoring of high voltage output up to 50kV, 60kV or 100kV even to 130kV RMS short time depending on model.

The basic HV Transformer rating is 5 to 25mA continuous, higher short time. Maximum continuous Hipot output current is limited by the control unit with current limiting resistors and adjustible overload sensing. A special control unit is required if higher AC output current is desired for high capacitance loads and for HV Vacuum Interrupters or other HV Vacuum devices.
